Below are some size measurement charts for our son and daughter that we developed over time to help people such as friends, uncles, aunts and grandparents that enjoy sewing clothes, pajamas and other outfits for babies and toddlers for presents. We are not seamstresses and have been taking measurements as our children continue to grow up. We will try to update these monthly. Our son Maximo is pretty much an average size child although according to the size charts has a head a bit smaller than average. The head size is an important factor, because if the clothing doesn't properly take into consideration the size of the babies head it can be difficult to put the clothes on. Even though according to the charts our son max's head is on the small side it has been hard to pull shirts over his head because the hole is not large enough even though it can open up farther with the openning being made larger with a snapped section left open. So please consider that when sewing the circumference place for the head and neck. Carefully consider the hole for the head and the shoulder length when making the clothing. Our daughter Alba is a bit on the small size for her age. We hope the tables we constructed below will help those who are trying to figure sizes for babies and children in their sewing endevers. Please, however be aware each child is different and they do grow quickly when determining the correct size of the baby or child you may be sewing for.

Waist = Part of the abdomen between the rib cage and hips.
Back Waist = Base neck to waist.
Inseam = Crotch to bottom pant leg.
Hips = Fullest part of the hips.
Skirt Length = Waist to middle part of the knee.
Shoulder length = Neck to tip of shoulder.
Shorts length = Waist to middle part of the knee.


According to the size charts
Alba Lucia would be
short coming in at 10% - 30 % (depending on age)for the height chart.
Her weight is in the bracket of 50% - 90% depending on her age at the time of measurement. As you can see it has fluctuated over time.


According to the size charts up to age 3 Maximo would be coming in at 10% - 50% for his age on the height chart and is now averaging about int the 50% as he nears age 4. However, when he was young (under a year) as you can see weight was about 40 to 50% depending on which age you look at compared to the CDC chart. He has since been thin ranging from 5 to 40% and it has always been a problem to get to eat. He has always been very active. As you can see over time his size percentage changes over time compared to the CDC chart. His father is average height 5'9"and his mother is 5'1". Even though he has parents averaging short and he is and has been thin since age one he still may end up being average in height. I guess we will have to wait and see.
